Housing Team to tackle the Sport Relief challenge
30 March 2010
A team from Shropshire Housing Group are gearing themselves up to tackle the Sport Relief mile this weekend.
In fact the keener ones will be challenging themselves to three and six mile stints to bring in the cash for charity.
Not all of the eager runners are regular athletes but all are ready, willing and able to give it go.
The run is the perfect chance for the association, which has its headquarters at the Gateway, in Craven Arms, to promote its pro-exercise policies.
Already Shropshire Housing Group staff are encouraged to take the healthy route, with a scheme to help them buy a bike of their own, a discount on leisure centre membership, active walking, cycling and running clubs which meet at lunchtimes and a policy of not using the lifts unless they are carrying something.
The group will be under starters orders on Sunday, March 21 at Ludlow School.
Shropshire Housing Group chief executive, Martin Holland, said: "We're very proud of the effort our team is making and I think it sets a very good example while adding to the Sport Relief fundraising effort that will be going on around Shropshire. I'm sure they'll all make it back to their jobs in one piece on Monday!"
The staff have also organised a Turbo Cycle Challenge on 24th March at the Gateway in Craven Arms. There will be 3 TACX flow cycle turbo trainers in reception and participants can book a 15 or 30 minute slot, between 10am and 4pm, for a donation to Sports Relief. Members of the public are welcome the join in by contacting Bev on 01588 676204 or calling in.
